Pieťany is
a Spa, therefore the most interesting places are nearby the spa facilities. This part of the town is called Spa Island. |

Pieťany is the best-known spa resort. So, on the one hand, there is people who said the town is very peaceful and on the other hand, there is people who said the city is boring... For instance, you can read in the Czech & Slovak Republics book published by Lonely planet, 3rd edition, page 453 : |
Like
most of spa towns, Pieťany is relaxing but fairly boring. " |
Well, I think the true is between these
two opinions and the best solution is to come and form its own idea. But as far as the story of the city is
concerned, it seems
that roman soldiers were the first to discover the health-giving
aspect of the town, 2000 years ago. The oldest written document
about the Spa is from the 12th century. The warm spring (67 to 69°C)
comes from tectonic fissures 2000 meters deep, and sulphuric muds
are used too for treatment. You can go to the Balneologicke Muzeum, everything about Spa is here, the story of the town, some old coins, bones from a mammoth, machines used for treatment... The museum is not in Spa Island, you must cross the colonnade bridge in the opposite way when on Winterova Ulica, follow the direction signs, in a few minutes by feet you will arrive at the enter of the Metsky Park where the museum is located.
